Overview

The Indiana Children's Health Services Research Training Program trains high quality clinical investigators committed to improving child health by optimizing access, quality and cost effectiveness of child health services.

The Indiana Children's Health Services Research section offers an interdisciplinary program crossing multiple departments and divisions in Indiana University's School of DentistrySchool of Nursing, and the state's only School of Medicine.  It leverages long-standing, exemplary programs in adult health services research and medical informatics in the Regenstrief Institute for Health Care to create a training environment for preparing leaders in children's health services research.  The program builds upon this strong foundation in order to achieve four major aims:

1. To identify and recruit health professionals committed to a career in children's health services research and support their professional development in our Children's Health Services Research Training Program which includes matriculation in a Master of Science in Clinical Research or Master of Public Health degree program and a structured professional development program.  Trainees completing these programs will develop the core competencies in clinical research methods, biostatistics, medical informatics, clinical trials, research ethics, translational research, scientific writing, and grant preparation needed to be a successful clinical investigator.

2. To provide a structured mentoring program led by a primary research mentor and advisory committee and linked to an explicit timeline and benchmarks.

3. To facilitate the preparation, submission, and successful attainment of individual post-doctoral fellowships and/or career awards (K awards) for each trainee supported by the program.

4. To foster an interdisciplinary research training program of physicians and other health professionals committed to the care of children.

Limited funding is available for post-doctoral fellows through a T32 NIH training grant.  The Indiana Children's Health Services Research Training Program encourages applicants from minority groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral research fields nationally.

Potential applicants should send inquiries by email to fellowship@ichsr.org.
